jackjanderson: (Han Solo)

Lucy listens to Lindsey Stirling a lot, and I fall in love with this track a little more everytime I hear it. There's not a lot of contemporary music I listen to, but this girl - and 2cellos - have opened up my eyes and I'm starting to learn/listen to more 'new' music

Those of you who read [personal profile] quantumcupcakes blog already know this but I broke my wrist at the weekend. I slipped on a damn LEAF, put my hand down to break my fall, broke my wrist instead and knocked myself out. Spent a day and a night in hospital for reasons of concussion and frightened the life out of poor Samantha who's been texting me all day to make sure I'm ok.

Today I'm looking at A song that moves you forward

There's something about Bach - Toccata And Fugue In D Minor that always gets the blood pumping

I had intended on posting a meme I've seen floating around but this cast is too cumbersome. If I thought I typed slowly beforehand, I'm even slower right now. I'd still be here at Christmas - and probably the one in 2018!

Samantha is at school, Lucy is at yoga and I've just come back from a walk with the dogs. Time to relax with some coffee and today's paper.

For my second Music Monday and continuing on with that much neglected 30 day meme we have A favourite song with a person's name in the title which gives us

A very uptempo version of Rossini - William Tell Overture: Finale. I love how passionate the conductor is and how into the music all the musicians are. A wonderful piece for blowing away the cobwebs on a Monday morning
jackjanderson: (Moon Over Earth)
Has it really been a month since I last posted? It really doesn't feel like it. Where has the time gone? I suppose mostly I've been busy with various DIY projects and unpacking and other house-related activities.

I realised that a while ago I was posting a 30 day music meme which I never completed and although it's been... a few months I don't like leaving things incomplete. I noticed [personal profile] zhelana has been posting a 'music monday' which I've decided to shamelessly steal and will post the remaining tracks - and others - on a Monday.

The next one of the prompts on the list is A song that has many meanings for you and after careful consideration

Holst - Planets: Mars, The Bringer Of War is a very evocative piece. It can make me feel strong, powerful, angry or scared - or all at once.

About Me

I'm Jack, a recent retiree looking for a new hobby. Apparently 'annoying my girlfriend' isn't the best use of my days. Her opinion, not mine

I'm a life-long science-fiction and superheroes fan, and a voracious reader. I enjoy movies, fishing, astronomy, and gardening.

I live in Wales with my wife, our girlfriend and an ever growing collection of four-legged friends.
